The Survey 3 Nielsen radio ratings results have no reference or relevance to MTR 1377.
Melbourne’s MTR 1377 launched into the Melbourne market on April 19. The Nielsen radio ratings’ diaries for Survey 3 were already distributed with the 1377 frequency referenced as previous easy listening station, 3MP.

Well the Survey 4 results are out and…
MTR were slightly ahead in the 40-54 demographic and the evening listening slot – AND THAT’S IT. For the rest they either stayed the same or (more commonly) lost percentage points.
I’ve got one word to say (and it’s a long one) – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH!!!!!!!

What is being done with the Jason Akermanis ‘hour’ on MTR while he sits out his 3 weeks enforced break from the media by the Bulldogs?

No shortage of money at MTR . Herald Sun article yesterday listed Jason Akermanis the bulldogs AFL player as earning around $200 000 from his involvement at the new talk radio station

Given enough time, all things are possible. It will take a long time to erode the dominance of 3AW. They have their craft down to a fine art. The question is. Will the backers of MTR hold their nerve for a long time?

MTR is in Melbourne for the long term as Russsell Tate told Everyone.
Oglivey Group will agressive advertise MTR on Melbourne Television, Billboards and other ways meaning Listeners will hopefuly be attracked to MTR and the rantings will be better in years to come than they are now.
Johm Singleton will tell Oglivy Group to call Channels 9, 7 and 10 in Melbourne to buy advertising space for MTR on their Television Networks and the battle to gain listenrs will be on then MTR will gain many more listeners no matter where they are from and MTR will be number 10 in Melbourne here’s hoping.
To put it another way…less than 2 people in a hundred with a radio TURNED ON are tuned to 1377. 15 in every 100 with a radio ON are tuned to 3AW.
MTR was included for the last couples of weeks. April 19 to May 4. Prior to those dates it was 3mp. So…4 weeks of the survey is 3mp and 2 weeks is MTR
The ratings figure overall is 1.8%. Shocking. Whilst this is not a full survey for MTR it is not a good sign and does not auger well.
Marconi stands by his prediction that MTR will be a 2% station….at best.
Next few surveys will tell the tale.
